The Latrobe City Statement of Commitment to Indigenous People and Statement of Reconciliation was developed through a consultative process between the Latrobe City Council and the Braiakaulung Advisory Committee. It includes a wide range of commitments and recommendations related to a variety of areas, including advocacy, cultural heritage, Indigenous business, place names, cultural awareness, consultation, employment and training and redressing disadvantage. | ||

Some of the achievements of the committee thus far have been: - The development and implementation of an Indigenous employment strategy within Latrobe City; - The development of a Latrobe City cultural awareness program; - Welcome signage to Latrobe City now includes welcome and goodbye written in the Braiakaulung language; - Participation in many cross-cultural activities and celebrations; - Participation on the Gippsland Regional Aboriginal Justice Advisory Committee; - Representation on, and presentations to, a variety of committees, activities, celebrations and events. |
