Summary Information:
Located 15 kilometres from Melbourne, Whitehorse is a mix of quiet residential streets and bustling shopping centres. The area is one that is steeped in history with many of the residential areas dating back to the 1940s. The City is also home to the largest high technology precinct in eastern Melbourne, placing it at the cutting edge of the telecommunications, multi media and information technology industry. The City spans 64.3 square kilometres and includes the suburbs of Box Hill, Bennettswood, Burwood, Nunawading, Blackburn, Mitcham, Forest Hill and Vermont. The City is bounded by Koonung Creek, the Eastern Freeway, Heatherdale, Highbury and Warrigal roads.

Whitehorse City Council has developed an Aboriginal Reconciliation Plan to increase awareness of the Indigenous community and to improve advocacy, education and access to services by the Indigenous community.
