Summary Information:
In 1996 the Cobourg Peninsula Land and Sanctuary Act 1981 (NT) was amended by the Cobourg Peninsula Aboriginal Land, Sanctuary and Marine Park Act 1996 (NT) to extend the powers of the Cobourg Peninsula Sanctuary Board to include supervision of the management of the adjacent Cobourg Marine Park, which includes customary marine clan estates of the Traditional Owners.

The Act is an act 'to acknowledge and secure the right of Aboriginals to occupy and use certain land on the Cobourg Peninsula in the Northern Territory of Australia, to vest that land in trustees for Aboriginals, to declare that land to be a national park, making certain provisions relating to the management of adjacent marine areas and for related purposes' (long title).
