The Ranger Uranium Project: Management Agreement (the Agreement) was entered into between Peko-Wallsend Operations Ltd (Peko), Electrolytic Zinc Company of Australasia Limited (EZ), Australian Atomic Energy Commission (AAEC), and Ranger Uranium Mines Pty Ltd (RUM), whereby Peko, EZ and the AAEC engaged RUM as the Manager to conduct their joint venture for the mining and treating of uranium ore deposits in the Ranger Project Act. |

The Agreement was deemed to have come into effect on the 25 August 1977 and is to continue for the length of the Government Agreement of the 9 January 1979, unless earlier terminated in accordance with this Agreement. The Government Agreement is annexed to this Agreement.
Under the Agreement RUM agrees to manage the joint venture on behalf of Peko, EZ and AAEC, conducting the operations as 'a commercial venture using its best endeavours, skill and judgement and adopting and employing good commercial, mining and industrial practice' (Article 4.2(a) of the Agreement). RUM agrees to manage in accordance with and subject to the terms, conditions and restrictions contained in the applicable provisions of the Government Agreement, the Authority pursuant to Section 41 of the Atomic Energy Act 1953, this Agreement and any decisions, instructions or directions of the Ranger Joint Venture Committee.
The Ranger Joint Venture Committee, which is set up under the Government Agreement, is comprised of 4 members - 2 members appointed by AAEC, 1 by Peko and 1 by EZ. | |
