The key undertakings in the Yellowknives Kwe K'a Ndi Participation Agreement provide for:
DDMI's commitments to provide employment and business opportunities to members of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation. To facilitate the achievement of these objectives, the Yellowknives Dene First Nation has agreed to maintain and make available to DDMI on an ongoing basis, an up-to-date human resource inventory and a business registry for their membership.
The creation of a joint implementation committee to outline responsibilities, tasks and timelines for reaching project-related employment and business development targets for the Yellowknives Dene. The Yellowknives Dene First Nation agrees to employ a representative to liaise with DDMI on these and other social development issues.
The affirmation by the Yellowknives Dene First Nation for its support for the development, construction and operations of the Diavik Diamonds Project as approved by the Federal Minister of the Environment in November 1999. In so providing, the Yellowknives Dene First Nation has expressed their intent to ratify the Diavik Environmental Agreement and the Socio-Economic Monitoring Agreement.
In addition to this agreement, DDMI has completed Participation Agreements with four other neighbouring Aboriginal groups including, the Lutsel K'e Dene Band, the Dogrib Treaty 11 Council, the North Slave Metis Alliance and the Kitikmeot Inuit Association. | |
