Detailed Information: | ||
The key undertakings in the Participation Agreement provide for: - DDMI's commitments to provide employment and business opportunities to members of the North Slave Metis Alliance. To facilitate the achievement of these objectives, the NSMA has agreed to maintain and make available to DDMI on an ongoing basis, human resource directories and business registries for their membership. - The creation of a joint implementation committee to outline responsibilities, tasks and timelines for reaching project-related employment and business development targets for the NSMA. The NSMA agrees to employ a community representative to liaise with DDMI on these and other social development issues. - The affirmation by the NSMA for its support for the development, construction and operations of the Diavik Diamonds Project as approved by the Federal Minister of the Environment in November 1999. In so providing, the NSMA agrees to ratify the Diavik Environmental Agreement and the Socio-Economic Monitoring Agreement. In addition to this agreement, DDMI has completed Participation Agreements with four other neighbouring Aboriginal groups including, the Yellowknives Dene First Nation, Kitikmeot Inuit Association, the Dogrib Treaty 11 Council and the Lutsel K'e Dene Band. |
