Detailed Information:
The broad mandate of the Advisory Board is to facilitate the use of integrated, holistic and cooperative approaches to monitoring, management and regulation of the Diavik Diamond Project.

Other responsibilities of the Board are to:

- Serve as a public watchdog of the regulatory process and the implementation of the Environmental Agreement and promote a cooperative approach to environmental monitoring;
- Review plans, programs and reports bearing on environmental issues related to the Diavik Diamonds Project and make recommendations to Diavik Diamond Mines Inc., the Minister of Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development or any body having regulatory or management responsibility for the matter under consideration;
- Make recommendations, in particular, on issues related to wildlife harvesting, the participation of Aboriginal peoples and affected communities in training or monitoring programs or the need for and design of traditional knowledge and other studies;
- Provide a meaningful role for each of the Aboriginal Peoples in the review and implementation of the environmental monitoring plans;
- Maintain a library of information related to the project open to the public;
- Facilitate communication with the affected communities and public on the Advisory Board's activities and environmental issues related to the Diavik Project;
- Participate as an intervener, wherever appropriate, in the regulatory or dispute resolution processes.

The Advisory Board will be in place until full and final reclamation of the Project site is completed in accordance with the water license and land leases for the project and following the terms of the Environmental Agreement.
