Under the Borroloola Mabunji Aboriginal Resource Centre Inc. Indigenous Land Use Agreement (ILUA) the Rrumburriya Group of people (the native title group) agree to the Northern Territory grant of a lease of crown land to the Mabunji Aboriginal Resource Centre Inc. Without the agreement, the grant of this lease would be subject to the future act and right to negotiate provisions of the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth).
The Rrumburriya agree to the granting of the lease for the purposes of a women's shelter, resource centre, playgroup or similar related purpose which would benefit both the Rrumburriya and the community of Borroloola in general. The lease may be assigned to any successors of the Mabunji Aboriginal Resource Centre however the grant of another lease (for example, for a different purpose) is not authorised by this ILUA. There is provision in the ILUA, however, for the an application to change the purpose of the lease to be made to the relevant Minister under s 34 of the Crown Lands Act (1992) (NT) with the written consent of the 'Native Title Parties' (the Rrumburriya) and the Northern Land Council (who represent the Rrumburriya). |
