Detailed Information:
The National Oceans Office was established to provide secretariat, technical support and programme delivery for initiatives under the 1998 Australian Oceans Policy (DEH Website, November 2006).

It was later dissolved in 2004, with the office of Minister of Environment and Heritage absorbing the previous responsibilities of the National Oceans Office.
