Summary Information:
The Nunavut Agreement-in-Principle (AIP) was signed on 30 April 1990 in Igloolik by representatives of the Government of Canada, the Government of the North West Territories and the Tungavik Federation of Nunavut. The Agreement-in-Principle set an ambitious agenda for concluding a land claim in the area and for securing agreement on the creation of Nunavut. The AIP laid the foundations for the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement, signed in 1993.
