The Nisga'a Agreement-in-Principle (AIP) was initialled in February 1996 and was formally signed on March 22, 1996. The AIP set the foundations for a future Final Agreement. Key provisions include agreement for a $190 million transfer to the Nisga'a Nation and the creation of a Nisga'a Central Government. Under the AIP, the Nisga'a Government will have ownership of and jurisdiction over approximately 2000 square kilometres of land in the Nass River Valley. |
