The Western Arctic Claims Settlement Amendment Act alters the provisions for amending the Western Arctic Claims Settlement Act. In particular, clauses 3(13) and 3(16) of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement were revoked. Subsection 3(13) was replaced with a provision allowing the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation to make decisions on behalf of Inuvialuit. Subsection 3(16) requires the Canadian Government to take all reasonable steps to put in place any legislation required for amendments to the Agreement.
The amendments were tabled in the House of Commons on December 14, 1987 as Bill C-102, document number 332-4/43. |
