The Yukon Transboundary Agreement between Canada and the Gwich'in Tribal Council forms Appendix C of the Gwich'in Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement.
The Agreement sets out the rights of the Tetlin Gwich'in in Yukon. Tetlin Gwich'in refers to Gwich'in who reside in the Peel River watershed, or who are descendants from such a person. The Agreement provides for the transfer of 1554 square kilometres of land to Tetlin Gwich'in. Legal ownership is vested in the Gwich'in Tribal Council. The Yukon lands designated in the Agreement combine with Northwest Territories lands to form the Gwich'in Settlement Region. |
