The Ngaanyatjarra Land Management Unit (NGLMU) is involved in land management projects concerning cultural and ecological heritage values. It was established in 1981 as part of the Pitjantjatjara Council Resource Centre in Alice Springs. The NGLMU operated for 17 years supplying the Ngaanyatjarra, Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara people with plant material as well as other services. Its present role has been re-defined as 'Land Management Services'. It aims to provide assistance with community land management programs and is a part of the Projects Department within the Resource Centre. The NGLMU engaged in 5 years of consultation and planning prior to the declaration of the Ngaanyatjarra Indigenous Protection Area. |
