Summary Information: | ||
The Bundaberg 'Drop-In Centre for Young People' Shared Responsibility Agreement (SRA) is aimed at encouraging youth leadership and reducing levels of anti-social behaviour among young people in the Indigenous community of Bundaberg. Shared Responsibility Agreements are agreements between governments and Indigenous communities to provide discretionary funding in return for community obligations. The new arrangements developed from an initiative of the Council of Australian Governments and replace the previous ATSIC system of funding. For more information see 'Share Responsibility Agreement' below.
Detailed Information:
Purpose The SRA will provide a drop-in centre 'harmony space' for local young people, where they will be mentored by similarly aged people, be put in touch with services and will receive training. Shared Responsibilities The community will provide volunteers to take part in an outreach program, and will support the youth workers at the drop-in centre. The community will also fill the youth coordinator and the four trainee positions, as well as encourage young people at risk to participate in the drop-in centre. Elders of the community will also mentor the young people involved in this project. Individuals and families will make use of the services provided. The Commonwealth Government will fund the setting up of the centre, as well as the youth coordinator and trainee positions. |
