    Detailed Information:
After a series of Federal Court hearings commencing in 2001, the Western Australian State Government requested in May 2004 the assistance of the National Native Title Tribunal (NNTT) (under section 86F of the Native Title Act) to mediate the application. A Framework for Settlement was subsequently developed. It outlines in general terms the elements that might be ultimately included in a settlement proposal. Discussion is continuing among the parties regarding the possibility of resolving the application via a consent determination. The Wongatha claim is one of 20 native title claims in the Goldfields region.
