The Deerubbin Local Aboriginal Land Council ('DLALC') began in 1983 under the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983 (NSW). Since 1993 the DLALC has since been actively involved in accumulating a substantial amount of landholdings. DLALC now the larger private landholder in Western Sydney. Because of this, DLALC has been able to contribute towards its commitment of strengthening the confidence of Aboriginal people and families. This commitment extends to being able to provide greater opportunity to Aboriginal people and families and to the greater community. DLALC's key functions under the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983 (NSW) are to:
In addition to this, the Council has formed a 'Community Land and Business Plan'. This plan aims to strengthen the Aboriginal families of the area by supporting culture and heritage, employment, education and recreation. |
