The Shepparton community has signed the Shepparton 'Strengthening Families' Shared Responsibility Agreement (SRA) with the Commonwealth and Victorian governments. The SRA outlines 12 strategies to strengthen families. The first of these strategies is an Education Pathways Strategy, with other plans for governance, strategic planning and leadership to follow.
The 'Strengthening Families' SRA builds on the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) trial, when the Greater Shepparton Shared Responsibility Agreement was signed.
Shared Responsibility Agreements are agreements between governments and Indigenous communities to provide discretionary funding in return for community obligations. The new arrangements developed from an initiative of the Council of Australian Governments and replace the previous ATSIC system of funding.
