The Northern Territory Seafood Council is the peak representative body of the seafood industry in the Northern Territory representing approximately 220 businesses.

The Council represents seafood industry interests in a large range of forums at the state level. 'These include a number of Aboriginal consultative committees in regional areas and Darwin, fishery management advisory committees, conferences and workshops on specific issues such as the environment and native title, formal parliamentary committees, individual government and non government bodies and the media. In recent years a significant amount of time has also been devoted to representing the industry in land claims under the Aboriginal Land Rights Act and in native title proceedings in the Federal Court.'
