| Mt Romance is a West Australian-based perfume specialist and sandalwood oil distiller founded by the Birkbeck family in 1990. The business now employs over 50 staff members. The move from emu oil into sandalwood made Mount Romance an internationally renowned producer and manufacturer of pure Australian sandalwood oil. The town of Albany now hosts a 'Sandalwood Factory', visitor centre and Tribal Dreaming Relaxation Centre. Mount Romance was sold in July 2005 to a Melbourne-based company, Holisitic Products Group Pty Ltd, for approximately (AUD) $20 million. |
