The Sarina 'Giving Young People a Future' Shared Responsibility Agreement (SRA) was made between the Indigenous Community of Sarina, all levels of government and local businesses to devise an Economic Participation Strategy.

Shared Responsibility Agreements are agreements between governments and Indigenous communities to provide discretionary funding in return for community obligations. The new arrangements developed from an initiative of the Council of Australian Governments and replace the previous ATSIC system of funding. Detailed Information:

The focus of this SRA is to provided training and employment for young people.

Specifically, the SRA provides an Economic Participation Strategy. The Strategy aims to address a shortage of employment opportunities for young people who have completed Years 10-12 of their schooling and are looking for employment outside CDEP. The Strategy will consider whether CDEP activities can be modified to offer necessary skills and increase employability.

Shared Responsibilities

The partners of the project agree to work together to plan to create jobs, training and business opportunities.

The Sarina SRA is administered by the Townsville Indigenous Coordination Centre.
