Summary Information: | ||
The Cape Barren Island 'Building the Community Wellbeing Centre' Shared Responsibility Agreement (SRA) is one of two SRAs signed on Cape Barren Island in 2005. This SRA relates to a Community Wellbeing Centre which will centralise a range of healthcare services in the community. Shared Responsibility Agreements are agreements between governments and Indigenous communities to provide discretionary funding in return for community obligations. The new arrangements developed from an initiative of the Council of Australian Governments and replace the previous ATSIC system of funding. For more information see 'Shared Responsibility Agreement' below.
Detailed Information:
Purpose The SRA aims to foster community cohesion and well being. A Community Wellbeing Centre will be constructed to provide a space where a range of health care services and other community programs can be accessed. Shared Responsibilities The community at Barren Island will contribute to the cost, amenities and building of the centre. The Commonwealth Government will provide $280,000 towards the construction of the Community Wellbeing Centre. This SRA operates in conjunction with the Cape Barren Island 'Community Harmony Program' SRA. Both SRAs are administered by the Hobart Indigenous Coordination Centre. |
