    Summary Information:
The Kundat Djaru Aboriginal Community signed the Ringers Soak Shared Responsibility Agreement (SRA) in 2005 after participating in the East Kimberley Council of Australian Governments (COAG) trial in 2003. The new agreement facilitates more structured activities for young people and provides new recreational equipment for the community.

Shared Responsibility Agreements are agreements between governments and Indigenous communities to provide discretionary funding in return for community obligations. The new arrangements developed from an initiative of COAG and replace the previous ATSIC system of funding. For more information see 'Shared Responsibility Agreement' below.
    Detailed Information:
    Purpose
The Kundat Djaru Aboriginal Community wants to increase youth involvement in both community activities and schooling. Under the SRA, more structured, out-of-school, activities will be provided at Ringers Soak.

    Shared Responsibilities

Under the SRA, the Commonwealth government will provide sporting equipment and supplies for youth camps to the value of $3000.

The Kundat Djaru Community will 'plan and organise one activity per week for young people. The community will purchase and contribute games and sporting equipment and maintain the equipment. Parents and other adults will supervise all activities and keep records of the number of young people participating' (SRA Fact Sheet).

The Ringers Soak SRA is administered by the Kununurra Indigenous Coordination Centre.
