Summary Information: | ||
The Pjunu Njamal community signed a Shared Responsibility Agreement (SRA) in 2005 to re-establish their farm. The farm will provide food for the community, and will evenutally become an income source for locals. Shared Responsibility Agreements are agreements between governments and Indigenous communities to provide discretionary funding in return for community obligations. The new arrangements developed from an initiative of the Council of Australian Governments and replace the previous ATSIC system of funding. For more information see 'Shared Responsibility Agreement' below. | ||

Residents will aslo clean up the community, and fix up and maintain the tip' (SRA Fact Sheet). The Commonwealth Government will commit $15,000 towards seedlings, tools and fencing, as well as farming and waste management training. Indigenous Community Volunteers will be recruited to provide techincal advice regarding sustainable farming. The Punju Njamal SRA is administered by the South Hedland Indigenous Coordination Centre. |
