    Summary Information:
The Aboriginal community of Coledale, a suburb of the regional New South Wales town of Tamworth, has signed this SRA in order to improve community access to services and recreation opportunities. The SRA aims to upgrade the Coledale Community Centre and to employ a youth worker to develop activities for young people.

Shared Responsibility Agreements are agreements between governments and Indigenous communities to provide discretionary funding in return for community obligations. The new arrangements developed from an initiative of the Council of Australian Governments and replace the previous ATSIC system of funding. For more information see 'Shared Responsibility Agreement' below.
    Detailed Information:
    Purpose

The Coledale community want improved access to services and recreation opportunities, and improved community safety and planning. The SRA provides for an upgrade to the Coledale Community Centre, and for the employment of a youth worker to develop activities for young people, and a governance adviser to assist with community planning.

    Shared Responsibilities

Under the SRA, the local community will provide labour for the upgrade of the Community Centre. Families will use the Centre's facilities and work with staff to minimise vandalism, and some community members will undertake governance training to build skills for the development of a Coledale Community Plan. Elders and adults in the community will assist the youth worker in developing community safety activities.

The Commonwealth government will provide funding for the upgrade of the Community Centre and provide an adviser to assist with community planning. It will also provide wages for the youth worker, who will develop programs and activities to improve community safety.
