The Koolan Island Agreement was signed between Aztec Resources Limited and the (Dambimangari) Dambima-Ngardi people on 23 April 2006.

The Dambima-Ngardi are the Native Title claimants over land and sea in the Koolan Island area.

A mine was operated at Koolan island by BHP Billiton from 1965 until 1993. Aztec wished to recommence mining operations there and approached the Kimberley Land Council in March 2005. The KLC met with the Dambima-Ngardi Traditional Owners, and together they engaged in negotiations with Aztec.

The Agreement provides monetary payments and shares to the Traditional Owners' Charitable Trust, some funds for employment and training of Traditional Owners, protection of significant sites and involvement of Traditional Owners in environmental decisions.
