Summary Information: | ||
The Manyallaluk 'Cultural Tourism' Shared Responsibility Agreement (SRA) is aimed at providing Manyallaluk's cultural tourism business with business support. Specifically, the tourism business will be helped in the development of a business plan, and will be given financial management training. Shared Responsibility Agreements are agreements between governments and Indigenous communities to provide discretionary funding in return for community obligations. The new arrangements developed from an initiative of the Council of Australian Governments and replace the previous ATSIC system of funding. For more information see 'Shared Responsibility Agreement' below.
Detailed Information:
Purpose The community would like to see its cultural tourism business put on a 'more sustainable basis', to ensure more community members can move off the CDEP program, and into full-time employment. Shared Responsibilities The community has agreed to provide CDEP positions for these developments, and for their tour guides to commit to regular attendance at work and training. The community has also agreed to develop a community-wide approach to the business, which will be run according to the business plan. They will work with the CDEP provider to comply with Personal Action Plans. The Commonwealth Government will fund a consultant to look at ways in which the business can be developed, and will fund infrastructure upgrades, including a kitchen, IT, power and a coolroom. |
