The Wadeye 'Planning for Better Education' Shared Responsibility Agreement (SRA) is aimed at raising community and regional awareness of eduction through the establishment of an education board that will guide community planning and implement strategies for future educational possibilities at Wadeye.

Shared Responsibility Agreements are agreements between governments and Indigenous communities to provide discretionary funding in return for community obligations. The new arrangements developed from an initiative of the Council of Australian Governments and replace the previous ATSIC system of funding. Purpose

This SRA provides funding for the community to run a series of workshops on education and education planning in language, through which the community will decide on a model to establish their own education board.


Shared Responsibilities

The community will participate in this series of workshops and will decide on the model for their education board.

The Commonwealth government will provide funding to run the workshops, and will employ a qualified interpreter.
