Summary Information: | |
The alliance between recruitment firm, Hudson, and the Ngarda Ngarli Yarndu Foundation was announced in November 2005. It is the first agreement of its type in the Australian recruitment industry. It is designed to enable recruitment services specific to Indigenous people in the Pilbara region (Hudson 2005).
It is anticipated that the alliance will bring socio-economic benefits to Indigenous communities in the form of improved candidate skills and increased Indigenous access to and participation in the workplace. It will also assist mining employers to meet the skills shortage in the mining industry. |
Detailed Information:
Under the Alliance, the Ngarda Ngarli Yarndu Foundation will identify Indigenous candidates for employment, while Hudson will provide permanent and contract recruitment services including recruitment screening, assessment and coaching and development guidance. The agreement also provides for "appropriate assistance, coaching and counselling" for candidates who have been unsuccessful in the screening process (Hudson 2005).
The partnership will assist mining companies to meet their compulsory Indigenous employment targets. The first contractors recruited under the agreement were placed in positions in March 2006 (ABC News online 2006).
