The Surat Aboriginal Corporation was incorporated in 2000 pursuant to the Aboriginal Councils and Associations Act 1976 (Cth). The stated objects of the Assocation include: - to purchase a building to conduct the affairs of the association in a transparent, efficient and resourceful way; - to ensure that culture and heritage is maintained and developed; - to provide comfortable and affordable housing for Aboriginal people in the Warroo Shire; - to ensure that there is access to primary and specialist health care which meet their social well-being needs; - to provide legal assistance and address Youth issues in Surat; and - to creat and provide wherever possible employment, education and training opportunities for the Aboriginal people of the Warroo Shire.
