    The Hedland Community Development Emloyment Projects (CDEP) Aboriginal Corporation ('the Corporation') was incorporated in 1997 pursuant to the Aboriginal Councils and Associations Act 1976 (Cth).

    'The objects for which the Corporation is established are:

    To provide direct relief from poverty, sickness, suffering, destitution, misfortune and homelessness to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of the Port Hedland/East Pilbara region without discrimination' (ORAC Website, accessed March 2007).

    The objects include, and are not limited to:
    - the support of development of economic projects and industries through the Community Development Employment Projects (CDEP) Programme;
    - the suppport of education, job training, health services work and housing;
    - engagement in projects with other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Associations for their mutual benefit; and
    - the reciept and management of Government grants of money.

    It is also party to the Regional Partnership Agreement on Indigenous Employment in Port Hedland.
