Summary Information: | |
Lotterywest is the official state lottery for Western Australia. It 'is a state government organisation which reports to the Minister for Government Enterprises.' It is overseen by a Board of Commissioners, which recommends the allocation of Lotterywest grants.
Lotterywest is required to return all of its profits to the Western Australian community. From the profits derived from the Lotto and Scratch'n'Win, Lotterywest provides grants to support people with special needs, disadvantaged people, and initiatives that contribute towards the quality of life for Western Australians.
According to the Lotterwest website, five broad objectives provide the framework for Lotterywest's grant-making:
'extending the capacity of not-for-profit organisations;
strengthening community service delivery;
enhancing community development initiatives;
valuing [Western Australia's] heritage; and
advancing participation in community life'. |
