Summary Information:
Herberton Shire Council was the local government entity for an area of 9,575 square kilometres encompassing the towns of Herberton, Ravenshoe and Mount Garnet. It is a predominantly rural area, with an Estimated Resident Population of 5,832 as at 30 June 2007 (ABS 2008; Tablelands Online: 'Your Government').

On 15 March 2008, Herberton Shire was amalgamated with three other councils to form the Tablelands Regional Council.
