| The Agreement between the New South Wales Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) and Aboriginal groups from the Central Coast and Hunter regions in New South Wales was signed on 30 March 2007. The Agreement recognises the role of Aboriginal groups in the management of parks and reserves in the regions and, in particular, aims for proactive management of Aboriginal cultural sites. |

The Agreement will deal with 'protection, management and conservation of natural and cultural heritage, ... use of parks and reserves, education and tourism' (Department of Environment and Climate Change 2007). It will include an Aboriginal heritage landscape assessment study to 'identify and record areas and items of Aboriginal cultural value'.
The agreement builds upon an earlier partnerships between the DEC and the Aboriginal community. | |
