The Meekatharra 'Junjar Mudar Mia' Shared Responsibility Agreement (SRA) is an agreement between the Meekatharra Indigenous Community and the Commonwealth Government, through the Office of Indigenous Policy Coordination (OIPC) and the Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaCSIA). Shared Responsibility Agreements are agreements between governments and Indigenous communities to provide discretionary funding in return for community obligations. The new arrangements developed from an initiative of the Council of Australian Governments and replace the previous ATSIC system of funding. Purpose This SRA's purpose is to renovate the building currently being used by the Junjar Mudar Mia organisation as a parents' and children's centre in order to ensure its safety. It also aims to train one of the mothers for the role of part-time coordinator of the centre. Shared Responsibilities The Meekatharra community will: Families and individuals will: The Commonwealth Government, through the OIPC, proposes to provide $40,000 towards the operation of Junjar Mudar Mia and $60,000, through FaCSIA, to renovate the building. The funding of the SRA is subject to the partners entering into a legally binding funding agreement. |
