Building Safer Communities Action Teams (BSCATs) are established under the Queensland Government's Crime Prevention Strategy 'Building Safer Communities.' BSCATs are committed to a partnership approach between public and private sectors, and have a focus on local needs, circumstances and community participation and the recoginition of the role of the local government. (Queensland Department of Premier and Cabinet, 2002)
