Roma 'Wattles' Shared Responsibility Agreement (SRA) is an agreement between the Commonwealth Government and Roma Aboriginal Corporation to upgrade sports facilities at the Wattles Footbll Club to diversify and improve amenities for a youth diversion program. Shared Responsibility Agreements are agreements between governments and Indigenous communities to provide discretionary funding in return for community obligations. The new arrangements developed from an initiative of the Council of Australian Governments and replace the previous ATSIC system of funding. Detailed Information: | ||
Purpose The program will provide funding to upgrade a community facility to diversify and improve amenities for a youth diversion program. The program is intended to increase the capacity of families and the community to develop and manage facilities and activities that support youth education and reduce the likelihood of substance abuse and criminal behaviour. Shared Responsibilities Families and individuals: Roma Aboriginal Corporation will administer the upgrading of the facilities at Wattles Football Club, organise training and accreditation for supervisors for sports activities and hold an under-16 rugby league carnival. Charleville and Western Area Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation for Health will run drug awareness workshops. Roma State College will liaise with Roma Aboriginal Corporation in relation to students' behaviour at sporting activities. The Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (Cth) will provide funding. Performance Indicators and Feedback Mechanisms Roma Aboriginal Corporation will review performance indicators including the completion of the upgrading of the Wattles Football Club, the number of accredited activities supervisors, and attendance at school and at drug awareness workshops. Roma Aboriginal Corporation will provide monthly reports to the Roma Indigenous Coordination Centre on progress in implementation of the program. Monthly meetings will be held by representatives of Roma Aboriginal Corporation, Roma community, the Roma Indigenous Coordination Centre and other key stakeholders to review the program. |
