The South East Region 'Community News' Shared Responsibility Agreement is an agreement between the Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs and the Burrandies Aboriginal Corporation to 'provide the tools to assist the community to write, compose and produce a community newsletter twice a month. Shared Responsibility Agreements are agreements between governments and Indigenous communities to provide discretionary funding in return for community obligations. The new arrangements developed from an initiative of the Council of Australian Governments and replace the previous ATSIC system of funding. Purpose The SRA aims to build community capacity through the enhancement of communication between Indigenous Individuals and groups in the South East Region of South Australia. This increased communication is directed towards assisting in community wellbeing in areas such as health, employment culture and in problem areas such as substance abuse and family violence by providing information on services and agencies which address these particular issues. Shared Responsibilities The community will: Individuals Community members will: The Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs has proposed a contribution of $11,000 for the provision of IT production, sound/image equipment, materials, printing and postage. The Burrandies Aboriginal Corporation has proposed an in-kind contribution of equipment and facilities to produce each edition of the newsletter. This funding is subject to the parties entering into a binding funding agreement. Performance Indicators and Feedback Mechanisms The SRA provides for annual reporting by the Burrandies Aboriginal Corporation on the number of editions of the newsletter produced and the average number of copies distributed each edition. A survey will also be circulate to newsletter recipients to gauge feedback on content and quality. |
