Partnership Objectives and Outcomes The Agreement has three main objectives: • to improve Indigenous education, training and economic participation; • enhancing Indigenous health, safety and lifestyle; and • sharing of party resources. Under these objectives, the Agreement provides for several 'core outcomes' of achievement. These include: • building the capacity of Batchelor; • ensuring the relevance of course provision and consolidating service provision, particularly within the Higher Education sectors and Vocational Education and Training (VET); • increasing employment opportunities for graduates of courses; • research and evaluation to inform public policy and service delivery methods; and • structures and processes that facilitate communication and promote efficiency. The first initiative under the Agreement is Northern Territory Government sponsorship of two research forums to be hosted by Batchelor institute in Alice Springs between 9 and 13 July 2007 (Batchelor and NTG Media Release) The Implementation of Key Objectives Projects and initiatives under the Agreement will be managed through 'Schedules to the Partnership Agreement'. These schedules will provide a development and review framework for participants. Each schedule will relate to strategies with specific outcomes and timeframes. The schedule projects may include Indigenous learning, transition to work, public sector employment opportunities, supporting Indigenous business and sustainable Indigenous environmental practices. The Agreement's implementation will be governed by the 'Peak Group' which comprises four representatives from Batchelor and the NTG respectively (Batchelor and NTG, 'Structure' 2007). The Peak Group will also oversee and review the range of the Agreement's activities, including an annual evaluation of the progress and outcomes pursuant to the Agreement. |
