    Summary Information:
    The Australian Government Department of the Environment and Water Resources (DEWR) develops and implements national policy, programs and legislation in conjunction with State Governments to protect and conserve Australia's natural environment and cultural heritage.

    It is responsible for administering environment and heritage laws including the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.
