Summary Information: | ||
The Ivanhoe 'Air Conditioning for Ivanhoe Youth Centre' Shared Responsibility Agreement (SRA) was developed between the Ivanhoe Indigenous Community and the Australian Government Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs on 14 June 2007. The SRA aims to install an air-conditioning unit in the Ivanhoe Youth Centre, in order to create a healthier and more comfortable environment for the enjoyment of recreational activities. Shared Responsibility Agreements are agreements between governments and Indigenous communities to provide discretionary funding in return for community obligations. The new arrangements developed from an initiative of the Council of Australian Governments and replace the previous ATSIC system of funding. Detailed Information: | ||
Purpose The purpose of this SRA is to provide an air conditioning unit for the Ivanhoe Youth Centre, in order to create a more comfortable environment for the community's enjoyment of sport and other recreational activities. It is proposed that this will lessen the risk of heat related illnesses. Shared Responsibilities The Youth Centre Committee will assist in the management and coordination of the Youth Centre. They are to meet monthly to co-ordinate activities. They will also pay for all associated maintenance and repair costs of the air conditioning unit. Families and individuals will make regular use of the Youth Centre. The Australian Government, through the Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs proposes to provide $15,000 to supply and fit the air conditioning unit, hoses and pump. This funding is subject to the partners entering into a legally binding funding agreement. Performance Indicators The SRA provides for quarterly reporting by the Youth Centre Committee on the number of Indigenous persons regularly participating in sporting or cultural activities. |
