The Walalkara 'Mentoring (Malpa) Support - Walalkara Women's Land Management ' Shared Responsibility Agreement (SRA) was developed between the Walalkara Indigenous Community, the Commonwealth Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, the Commonwealth Department of Environment and Heritage and the Alinytjara Wilurara Natural Resource Management (AWNRM) Board on 21 May 2007. The SRA aims to establish a mentoring program with an individual from the Walalkara Indigenous Community in order to develop the individual's, as well as the Community's, land and project management capacity. Shared Responsibility Agreements are agreements between governments and Indigenous communities to provide discretionary funding in return for community obligations. The new arrangements developed from an initiative of the Council of Australian Governments and replace the previous ATSIC system of funding.
