The Wagga Wagga Indigenous Community includes many members of the Wiradjuri people, on whose traditional land Wagga Wagga is located. According to the 2006 census, the Wagga Wagga Indigenous Region encompassed 447,678 persons, including 16,309 (3.6%) Indigenous persons (compared with 2.3% Indigenous persons in Australia).
