The program has developed since its inception and the major supporter is now Theiss, which is an engineering and management services provider operating in the Australasian region. It continues to concentrate on participation for 5-15 year-old boys and girls through AFL Auskick, as well as leadership for 15 year-olds and above through AFL Auskick coaching, umpiring and administration. Life skills for children of all ages are promoted through links with the Northern Territory Departments of Health, Police and Education.

Throughout 2004, AFL Kickstart will take its recreational program to over 40 remote Indigenous communities.
