The Memorandum of Understanding between the Ashburton Aboriginal Corporation and the Shire of Ashburton (the MOU) provides for a number of outcomes, including:
a cooperative approach to recycling;
project work;
direct Indigenous employment at the Shire; and,
the hosting of potential Indigenous employees for three months (see DIOR 2008: 3; Shire of Ashburton 2006: 14).
The Shire of Ashburton resolved to enter the MOU in May 2006 (Shire of Ashburton 2006).
