Summary Information:
The Townsville Ocean Terminal Agreement Indigenous Land Use Agreement (ILUA) involved the Gurambilbarra People surrendering native title rights over the agreement area in order to enable the development of the Townsville Ocean Terminal and adjacent residential and commercial premises.

The signatories to the agreement were City Pacific Ltd (APPLICANT) and Christine George, Virginia Wyles, Alice Dowden, Beverley Underwood, Angelina Akee and Petrina Pam Hegarty, on their own behalf and on behalf of the Gurambilbarra People.
Detailed Information:
The surrender of native title, and the agreed acts of City Pacific Ltd are limited to the areas not previously extinguished by acts of the Queensland and Commonwealth governments. The ILUA specifies that the right to negotiate provisions of the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) do not apply to the grant of the land.

The Gurambilbarra also approved any activities which are related to the project, including those which would result in extinguishment of their native title rights. The terms and conditions of the agreement are commercial-in-confidence.
