Area Consultative Committees are community based, not-for-profit organisations funded by the federal governmenet. The Northern Rivers ACC acts as a link between regional communities in the Northern Rivers Area of New South Wales and the Australian government.

The primary function of Area Consultative Committees is to promote and identify projects and develop applications for the Regional Partnerships program. The Northern Rivers ACC liaises with regional communities and government about social and economic issues and aids the government in assessing local communities' needs for programs and services.
