| The Circular Head 'Advancing Women Project' Shared Responsibility Agreement (SRA) is an agreement between the circular head Aboriginal community and the Circular Head Council and the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA, previously FaCSIA)to establish a workshop series to empower and strengthen Aboriginal women and to ensure access to support services and information. Shared Responsibility Agreements are agreements between governments and Indigenous communities to provide discretionary funding in return for community obligations. The new arrangements developed from an initiative of the Council of Australian Governments and replace the previous ATSIC system of funding. | Purpose The SRA gives Aboriginal women access to a workshop series, information and support services to empower and strengthen them, improve their life skills, help them to maintain a healthy lifestyle and positive self-esteem and to engage with the broader community. Shared Responsibilities The Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA, previously FaCSIA) has proposed a contribution of $30,000 to cover administration and coordination costs of the workshop and where applicable, transport and presenters' fees. The Circular Head Council has proposed a contribution in kind to cover program support such as the provision of facilities and venue. Communities will encourage participation in the project, develop and maintain a strong focus group to monitor the project, propose and promote role-models with a healthy lifestyle and create a 'unity in community' approach to include marginalised community members. The community will also put forward ideas about what kind of information and services are needed within the community. Workshop participants will commit to participate throughout the project and contribute to its development and promotion. Families and individuals will support family members' participation, promote the project and encourage whole family involvement. They will attempt to break inter-generational pattern of adverse behaviour and give practical support to facilitating involvement in the project. Performance Indicators and Feedback Mechanisms A series of key milestones and target dates have been outlined for the project. A focus group (steering committee) will be established, being jointly appointed by all parties to the agreement. There will be regular contact to identify any problems and he best solutions to these problems. The focus group will report quarterly to the ICC Tasmania about the success of the project. Course participants will complete feedback sheets, will be invited to give feedback to the focus group and ICC. Discussions and attempts to resolve any problems that arose in the feedback information will follow. | ||
