The Kombumerri Aboriginal Corporation for Culture is an Aboriginal Corporation formed by the Kombumerri People pursuant to the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (Cth). The objectives of the Corporation include to "hold title to The Land on behalf of the members of the Corporation", "use The Land to provide economic, environmental, social and cultural benefits", "identify, research and promote the cultural heritage of the original inhabitants of the Yugambeh Language Region in south-east Queensland, namely; the area covered by the river systems and tributaries which extend from the Tweed River in the south, to around the Logan River in the north and west, to the Coral Sea in the east including southern Moreton Bay", and to "facilitate the education and training of the members of the Corporation and their families". |
