The Centre for Indigenous Natural and Cultural Resource Management (CINCRM) was established in February 1997 at the Northern Territory University in Darwin. It was initially funded by the Australian Government's Indigenous Higher Education Centres program. The Foundation Director was Professor Marcia Langton. CINCRM is the research arm of the Faculty of Indigenous Research and Education. | ||

The central roles of of CINCRM are to: -Support Indigenous students and scholars to undertake research in natural and cultural resource management, and issues of sustainable community development affecting Indigenous Australians; -Develop curriculum for Indigenous resource management; -Facilitate career opportunities for Indigenous researchers; -Forge partnerships with Indigenous communities and stakeholders. -Be a national and international focal point for research which meets the needs of Indigenous peoples in Australia and our near neighbours in Southeast Asia and the Western Pacific; -Provide consultancy services and specialist advice in all areas of expertise.
